Advisory-Led Proof of Concept Design Shows a Manufacturer What’s Possible with Agentforce

Demand Chain scoped and designed three conversational AI agent concepts to show how field sales reps could capture data without manual entry.

A century-old industrial equipment manufacturer serving the plastics processing industry through brands spanning material handling, temperature control, size reduction, hydraulic presses, and process cooling.

Platform designed around: Salesforce Sales Cloud · Agentforce · Salesforce Mobile App · Flow

The Challenge:

Field Sales Reps Losing Time to Manual Data Entry

This manufacturer’s field reps captured opportunities, tasks, and site survey details manually, usually after leaving the customer site, since real-time entry wasn’t practical in the field. The delay led to incomplete records and inconsistent data, and cut into time reps could spend selling. Before investing further, the client wanted to understand exactly what a better alternative would look like.

The Solution:

Designing an Agentforce Proof of Concept for Field Sales

Rather than recommending a solution on paper alone, Demand Chain’s advisory team scoped and designed a proof of concept for the client’s existing Salesforce environment, centered on the mobile app reps already used. Three Agentforce agent concepts were designed:

  • Opportunity Creation Agent: would let reps create opportunities through guided, conversational input
  • Task Creation Agent: would capture follow-ups and reminders in real time
  • Site Survey Agent: would turn natural language into structured site visit documentation

The scenario: a rep leaves a site visit and opens the Salesforce Mobile App to describe what happened. As designed, Agentforce would interpret that input and create or update the corresponding records through backend Flow automation.

What the POC Design Showed:

From Manual Entry to Real-Time Capture

The design gave the client a concrete answer to their original question. Conversational AI could realistically replace delayed manual entry with real-time capture, inside the mobile app reps already carried, creating opportunities faster, standardizing site survey data, and freeing up time reps currently lose to administrative catch-up. The client could evaluate the approach’s real-world fit against a specific, scoped design before committing to build.

The Takeaway:

What This Means for Teams Considering AI for Field Sales

  1. Design it before you build it. A scoped POC gives decision-makers a concrete, detailed view of the solution, more convincing than an abstract pitch, before any development investment is made.
  2. Meet reps where they work. Designing around the mobile app reps already used shows adoption barriers can be designed away, not solved after the fact.
  3. Advisory-first de-risks AI investment. Separating “what’s possible” from “what to build” lets organizations validate value before committing budget.
